SMPL also manufactures a wide range of flexible packaging for food and beverage, pharmaceutical, healthcare, electronics and other industries.

- SMPL initiated a project on Corporate Social Responsibility - Y STARS. This is a social program in-partnership with YMCA.
- Superior (Chengdu) Multi-Packaging Co., Ltd was incorporated with an initial investment of US$0.7m.
- SMPL received the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point ("HACCP") accreditation for the Flexible Packaging business. With the new certification, this will enable SMPL to further differentiate its products and services from its competitors and strengthen its foothold in the businesses.
- Neo Tech Packaging (Shanghai) Co., Ltd was incorporated in Shanghai. The initial investment was US$0.8m.
- Our plant in Vietnam began the production of 20-litre plastic pail.
- Superior (Langfang) Multi-Packaging Co., Ltd was set up with an initial investment of US$1.5m.

- The new Flexible Packaging wing became operational, with the introduction of the Tandem Extrusion machine costing more than S$1.0m to further enhance SMPL's flexible packaging capabilities.

- SMPL was awarded the Golden Eagle Award for Best Enterprise. The award serves to recognize both entrepreneurs and corporations for their outstanding contribution and achievement in promoting business between Singapore and China.
- In May 2000, Superior Metal Printing Limited changed its name to Superior Multi-Packaging Limited to better reflect the multi-faceted businesses of the Group.
